I'm seriously considering getting a BAE 1073MPF or MP. Is the filter on the MPF worth the extra $500 or so? Is a filter even necessary anymore? The way I see it, with the plugins that are available these days, the filter can be done via a plug-in after recording and be completely nondestructive. I would assume that most would prefer that over being stuck with the filter that was used when you recorded it. Obviously all of my logic would be void if the filter on the BAE simply couldn't be replaced by a software plugin, but for some reason I get the feeling that's not the case here. Am I right?
