I am very new to recording. My experience stems from sitting in the studio with an engineer (who used pro tools) while my daughter recorded her first CD. I have also done a bit of recording with garageband, which I learned quite quickly thanks to Mac For Musicians. The problem is that this software has limits. I'd like to try something a little better. I bought an interface which came with Cubase AI 6. I have found it VERY daunting to say the least. I cannot find any good videos for beginners which meet my needs. I'm not interested in recording loops or mid. My daughter wants to record some covers and will use karaoke tracks, or she will use her guitar to record her originals. I want to learn basics like recording vocals, comping, and tuning, adding slight effects, reverb, and EQ. Does anyone know any really great tutorials for this that can give me a "crash course"? Also, we bought an AT2020 mic and have a Yamaha interface. Are those decent? I am considering just getting a good vocal and sending it out to a qualified engineer to mix and do everything else, but I'd first like to try. any help would be much appreciated!
