Help getting the acoustic Pop radio sound....

Can someone help me figure out how to get the acoustic sound from these records,

I am using a spruce top and trying to make it sound as thin as these, but it still is too in your face, or maybe I should say too close sounding...

I know they cut all the lows and some mids out, but what about how you think it was recorded
Direct in, or di and mic, or just mic?
