To feed my sampler addition I've just snatched up an old Akai S1100 and when sitting in my rack, I must say I think it's by far the most beautiful sampler I've ever laid hands on. The two main knobs are of metal, the whole construction is wonderfully solid.
No wonder the S1000 became the studio standard. This thing feels so professional. I used to own a S950 about a million years ago and given time enough I'm sure it will end up in my rack as well. But I cannot remember me being so impressed with the form and construction with the 950 as with the S1100.
And I paid something like 75 euros for it. Crazy. Even the guy who sold it to me fully knew what he was selling. Use it with drums and basses he said. Magnificent.
