I'm looking for an RTAS EQ plugin with a very wide gain range, so that it can reduce each band by infinite dB and thus mute frequencies.
I currently use Digirack EQ III and it works for most of my purposes. But the most it can reduce a band is -18 dB, and sometimes I need to reduce it further. I know that I could run a number of instances of EQ III on a track to reduce gain further, but this doesn't seem like the optimal method.
I have a basic understanding of how low/high pass filters work, and I can kind of achieve this effect using them. But I imagine it would be much easier to be able to use an EQ like normal but have the option to fully reduce gain.
I produce ambient music by processing and treating acoustic recordings, so I often want to make extreme EQ changes to sculpt soundscapes.
Ideally the plugin would be a graphic EQ and not too expensive, or free.
Or if there's a way to achieve this effect using other methods, I'd love to know about it.
Thanks!
