Altec 1567a

I have the chance to buy one of these units in excellent shape... for $1450CAD.

I was wondering if anyone who has worked with them could tell me about their sound... vocals, bass, acoustic guitar, piano. How would you describe them? And though I like darker vintage sounds, I'm I'm not looking for a distortion box. Richness, thickness... sure. Distortion, no.
