There's nothing more satisfying than stumbling across some brilliant new musician that you had no idea existed. And with tools like Spotify and Youtube, it's so incredibly easy to access millions of songs instantly. In short, there's never been a better time to be a music lover.
I'm always, ALWAYS looking for good new music. In fact, I've found several really awesome artists by way of suggestions from people on these message boards. So I thought to myself, "why not create a thread where people can list their favorite musicians at the moment, so that we can help expand the listening audiences of the musicians who really deserve it?"
My two requests: don't plug your own music, AND, you must name the genre of the artist. The second request is because I don't want to waste time listening to artists in genres I'm really not that into (and I'm sure you don't either).
That being said, I'll get the party started with what I've been into lately:
Trance: Jorn Van Deynhoven, Photographer, Protoculture, Bjorn Akesson
Outrun/80's synth revival stuff: Miami Nights 1984, Mitch Murder
Modern Classical/minimalist (Non-electronic): Ludovico Einaudi, Yann Tiersen
Experimental electronic: Max Cooper, ambient Brian Eno stuff, Aphex Twin
Hardstyle: Noisecontrollers, Frontliner, Audiofreq,
I listen to lots of jazz and classical music too...as you can see I'm all over the place!
Your turn...
