I recently bought an Impact Twin for my new music computer (Win 7/Reaper) and so far I've been VERY happy with it. Very low latency, pre's sound decent etc.
My problem now is getting my Fostex VF160 hooked up to the Impact Twin via the ADAT connection(s). I have two VF160's and have linked them together before using an ADAT cable as well as a MIDI cable; the VF160's have settings to designate one as a slave and the other as a master, as well as Midi Synch Frame Rate, MTC Offset, digital In/Out settings (analog, ADAT, Midi, etc). I've also chained an ADA8000 before with minimal fuss.
I've tried setting the VF-160 as I would when linking two of them together, setting it to the "slave settings" and trying different parameter settings as well and I can get the Impact Twin to see the VF160 but I can't get the signal(s) from the VF160 into the Impact Twin interface on my computer. I've tried every routing combination in the interface. I'm just trying to use the VF160 as an interface to add 8-more inputs (this is all the Impact Twin will allow via the light pipe). I no longer have the ADA8000 but have read on the TC Electronics user forum that hooking THAT up to the Impact Twin is pretty straight forward and works fine. I've read that the Impact Twin needs to be set so that it uses it's built-in master clock for the MIDI and I have everything set for that.
I know the Fozzies are a bit old (I had Black Lion upgrade my op-amp chips awhile back, it sounds pretty decent for being so old) but was hoping maybe someone has some experience in hooking them up to a computer interface?
Thanks.
