My Saffire Pro 40 came with some stickers all over it saying, "do not plug or unplug firewire cable while the interface or computer is on.
It also says to do things in these steps:
HAVE EVERYTHING OFF
turn on interface
turn on computer
turn on monitors
Shut down monitors
shut down computer FIRST
shut down interface
Is it really necessary to shut down your computer before turning off your interface and disconnecting the cable? I find it annoying to not be able to just unplug my laptop and go to my couch when I am done recording.
instead I need to shut down my laptop -> power down the interface -> disconnect cable -> then restart my computer...
even if the interface and computer are on and connected by firewire, is it safe to just turn the interface off and unplug the firewire while the computer is still on?
