Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis used this signature sliding bass drop on a lot of their songs, including those for SOS Band. I happened to be listening to this Alex O'Neal track and heard it again. It occurs at 14 seconds. Does anyone know how they might have achieved it? Or do you think they got it from a sample library? It's like exactly the same every song I hear it in. I'm busy trying to replicate it in U-He's Diva myself, just thought I would get some other opinions while I work.
I'm thinking it's a chromatic sawtooth line sequenced/played legato from mid-high on the keyboard to the upper bass registers (2 octave run?), maybe played at 32nds or 64ths, with a little bit of filter enveloping and slight resonance going on. Thoughts? If I manage to replicate it respectably I'll post the result.
