Anyone experienced with the Focusrite Clarett 8Pre?
Currently my setup is a Saffire Pro 24, I use an outboard mixer to have all the instruments summed then record into my daw, I have also routed my external fx as AUX sends via the ext mixer.
I'm experiencing weird noise issues with the mixer, its not very convenient nor flexible when I want to hear the affected signals but record only the dry signals. I would like to upgrade to a faster audio interface with more i/o. My goal is not to record 8 tracks at the same time, but be able to have all the instruments setup correctly so I can essentially jam and make ideas on the fly with each instruments concurrent.
I have a few questions regarding this interface,
1. If i have more analogue inputs in my daw this will essentially affect CPU load? Or would the thunderbolt compensate for this?
2. How will the thunderbolt compensate latency issues if I track with plugins in my DAW?
3. Will I be able to route each input to individual tracks within the 8pre mixing software?for example guitar / synths / etc into different inputs of the 8pre but route these to only one track in my DAW during tracking with plugin comps / processors. This way I can save CPU power and not have plugins in every track.
4. I want to setup AUX sends in my DAW to have dry signals sent out to external delay / reverb processing fx then back into the 8pre as reference. (I feel its more inspirational to make music this way.) If I record both dry and processed signals how bad will latency be? Is my CPU power the main factor in this situation?
Thank you !!!!
