I need some help here. Long time Protools user, and now am one of the PT12 subscriber dummies. I invested some years ago in a 002Rack and had it upgraded with Black Lion Audio Signature Series. Love the machine, All I have needed for a long time.
I have had a lot of problems each time Protools upgrades (10 to 11, 11 to 12) as PT no longer supports their "legacy gear," but always seemed to get it working in the end through tweaks and downloads and dinking with it.
A couple weeks ago my work forced me to get a new MacBookPro. My new one came with ElCapitan, which I have been avoiding for some time now. PT12.5.2 will not work with my 002R. It recognizes the 002, but keeps freezing up. Won't even play tracks I have previously recorded effectively, let alone record. Not good. I have spent 20+hours and can't seem to fix the problem.
My questions:
1) Should I leave PT all together? If so, what program would you recommend for easy of transition and overall quality, in addition to running well with my 002?
2) Is there something else I can do to make ElCapitan work with the legacy gear?
UGH. Not happy, and am in the middle of a project!!!
